Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position Research and development specialist, Research scientist - Thin films.

The Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS is a scientific research institution focused on basic and applied research in optics and laser technology, electron microscopy, magnetic resonance and cryogenics, micro photonics, medical signal processing and electron and plasma technologies.

We are seeking a new colleague for our Coherent Optics group who will specialise in developing, designing and implementing diffractive optic layers. Our team has long been involved in research and development in laser interferometry, frequency stabilisation of lasers, fibre optic sensing and quantum technologies. In areas, we extensively use optical elements that require reflective, anti-reflective, and filtering optical layers, which we are able to design and implement in our two coating systems. We are now expanding the group that designs and realises optical thin films.

In the offered position, you will be involved in scientific research projects in basic and applied research. Your tasks will include the design of diffractive layer structures, the selection of suitable materials and their deposition methods, the evaluation of the realised layers and the subsequent modification of the deposition process. The position is ideal for competent graduate students, postdocs and researchers. You will become our colleague and a valid and essential part of the scientific team with the opportunity to participate in exciting projects.
