J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position Ph.D. student.
A leading research institute in Prague, Czechia, named after Nobel laureate in Chemistry, J. Heyrovsky, is seeking a Ph.D. student for a short-term (two months in 2025) stay in electrochemistry .

Job description
The employee will be involved in the development and use of the spectroelectrochemical platform for online monitoring of decomposition of environmentally harmful substances (antibiotics, pesticides). Responsibilities and duties will include experimental work in the lab, analysis of results and literature search.
Results will be published in peer-reviewed journals with appropriate co-authorship.
Required Qualifications
- a M.Sc. in chemistry, physics, or a related field
- fundamental knowledge of electrochemistry
- experience with computer assisted design and 3D printing
- English or Czech/Slovak or Hungarian communication skills, both spoken and written
- publication track record.
Preferred skills
- knowledge of data analyses using software Origin and Comsol 360 or similar
- ability to work efficiently both as part of a team and independently.
Desired skills
- experience with UV/VIS spectroscopy is an advantage
- hands-on experience with electrochemical cell design is an advantage
