Institute of Microbiology of the CAS announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position HEAD OF LABORATORY OF MOLECULAR BIOLOGY OF BACTERIAL PATHOGENS.
The Laboratory od Molecular Biology of Bacterial Pathogens studies tricks and tools used by pathogenic bacteria to suppress the immune defense of the host. The research is among other focused on the study of the emerging pediatric pathogen Kingella kingeae. Major emphasis is placed on host interactions of the whooping cough agent Bordetella pertussis that causes the respiratory illness called pertussis. Particular attention is paid to the mechanisms underlying the interaction of the bacterium and its virulence factors with airway epithelia.

Job description:
Management and project support for the operation of the Laboratory during the five-year evaluation period.
Requirements:
- University education and a scientific degree in a relevant field
- A proven record of significant achievements in scientific and creative activity in the relevant field
- Successful experience in dealing with scientific grants
- Strong organisational skills and relevant experience
- Active knowledge of the English language
- A clear vision and ownership of the challenges within the focus area, including the objectives and funding strategy of the Laboratory
The successful candidate's maximum total contract hours will not exceed 1.2 (1.0 scientific, 0.2 teaching)
