Selection Procedures
Institute of Art History of the CAS announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position Research Position at the Department of Musicology.
In accordance with law no. 283/1992 of the Czech Academy of Sciences, as amended by law no. 420/2005, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Art History, Czech Academy of Sciences, is pleased to announce a selection procedure for a new research position for the Department of Musicology.
The primary focus of the position will be research activities within the Department of Musicology, with an emphasis on Bohemian aspects of musical history spanning the eighteenth to the twenty-first centuries. The successful candidate will be expected to formulate their own research project(s), collaborate on a team project exploring concert life in the Czech lands, and contribute to the operations and objectives of the department. Applicants are required to submit a proposal outlining the concept of their research, aligning with the Department of Musicology’s overarching focuses.
Commencement date: April 1 2025, or to be agreed on
Number of hours worked per week: part-time, i.e. 20
Qualifications:
- Completed university degree in the field of musicology or a related field with at least a Master’s degree or equivalent (with the prospect of obtaining a PhD);
- Demonstrated interest to undertake research;
- Moral integrity, independence, initiative, and flexibility;
- Ability to work as part of a team and foster collegial cooperation;
- Proficiency in English; ability to read Czech and German literature and sources; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

- A short motivation letter;
- Copies of certificates of educational qualifications;
- A professional CV outlining all non-academic and academic activities including publishing, teaching and other relevant experience as well as language skills; and
- A research proposal outlining the concept of the researcher’s own research project (maximum length 5400 signs incl. spaces)
