Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS
Mária Zedníková (*1978) graduated in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague) in 2001, earning the title Ing. In 2006, she also completed her doctorate (Ph.D.) in the same field at UCT Prague.
Since 2006, she has been a researcher in the Multiphase Reactors Research Group at the Institute of Chemical Processes, Czech Academy of Sciences (ICP) in Prague, becoming its head in 2023. Since 2019, she has also been an assistant professor at the Institute of Chemical Engineering, UCT Prague. She has completed international internships at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, University of Nottingham in the UK, and the Department of Chemical, Mining and Environmental Engineering, University of Bologna in Italy.
Her research focuses on the breakup of bubbles and droplets under various hydrodynamic conditions, the influence of surfactants on bubble dynamics, and mass transfer and hydrodynamics in liquid-gas dispersions. She is the principal investigator of several research projects, including "Interaction of Bubble or Droplet with Toroidal Vortex" (Czech Science Foundation, 2022 to 2024) and "Mass Transfer and Hydrodynamics in Multiphase Reactors".
In her teaching, she focuses on chemical engineering, fluid mechanics, process design, and chemical technologies for process engineers, and she supervises and consults students at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.
She is the vice-chair of the ICP Council, a member of the Working Party on Multiphase Fluid Flow of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE), and a member of the Czech Society of Chemical Engineering. She also serves as a guest editor for the journal Separation and Purification Technology.
Mária Zedníková is the author or co-author of 29 publications, including chapters in monographs and a utility model. She regularly presents her results at international conferences, where she has delivered more than 85 contributions. At the beginning of her tenure on the Academic Council, her H-index is 14, and her total number of citations is 669 (Scopus).
