Mgr. Petr Vodička, Ph.D.

Petr Vodicka obtained an MSc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University in Brno (2019). In 2007, he defended his PhD thesis in Developmental Biology at the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague. From 2001 to 2011, he worked first as a PhD student and later as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Libechov. Between 2011-2016, Dr. Vodicka worked on Huntington’s disease research at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Since his return to the Czech Republic (2016), he leads the Laboratory of applied proteome analyses at IAPG CAS, where he is also a member (since 2017) and Chairman (since 2022) of the Institute Council.

His research is mainly focused on using proteomic approaches to understand nervous system development and mechanisms of neurodegeneration, with the aim of identifying new therapeutic targets and biomarkers of disease progression.

Dr. Vodicka is the author of 44 peer-reviewed articles and 10 book chapters with over 1900 citations and an h-index of 22. He is a member of the Proteomic Section of the Czech Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the European Huntington’s Disease Network.
