prof. PhDr. Petr Vorel, CSc.

Prof. Dr. Petr Vorel (* 1963) is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy at Charles University in Prague (1986), in the years 1986-2000 he worked as a historian and curator of the numismatic collection at the East Bohemia Museum in Pardubice, 2000-2006 as the head of the Historical Department of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy at University of Pardubice, 2006-2007 as the vicedean for science and research, 2007-2015 as the dean of this faculty, and 2015-2020 as the vice-rector of University of Pardubice. He underwent habilitation procedure in the field of history at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of Charles University in Prague in 1999; he was appointed professor in 2004 at the University of Palacký in Olomouc. He has long worked as a member of important expert boards and departmental committees: Association of Historians of the Czech Republic (committee member from 1992 and committee chairman from 2005 to 2011); Czech National Committee of Historians (member from 2002, chirman since 2011); Collegium Carolinum - München (since 2011); Learned Society of the Czech Republic - Prague (since 2011) Comenius Academic Club – New York (since 2012), departmental subcommittee 404 (History) of the Grant Agency of Czech Republic [GAČR] (2005-2009), specialisation History (P405) of the Grant Agency oc Czech Republic (2009-2014); chairman of evaluation commission of IIIrd scientific area (History, Archeology and History of Fine Arts) of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (2010-2011); chairman of evaluation committee for Humanities of the Council of Government for Science and Research of the Czech Republic (since 2014). In his scientific research he focuses on Czech and central European history of the late medieval and early modern era, on economic history and the history of the monetary circulation. In his large-scale scientific research he regularly cooperates with important foreign institutions (in Europe and USA), which is reflected in his frequent publication activity abroad.
