prof. Ing. Petr Konvalinka, CSc., FEng.

Petr Konvalinka graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), specializing in Structural and Transportation Engineering. In 2002, he was appointed Associate Professor in the field of the Theory of Building Structures and Materials. Six years later, he was promoted to Full Professor in the same field. Since 2014, he has been a member of the Czech Engineering Academy. From 1984, Petr Konvalinka worked at CTU as an academic staff member, lecturing on structural mechanics and continuously engaging in research and experimental activities. He was the principal investigator and co-investigator of significant basic and applied research projects (Center of Excellence GA CR, projects of the MPO, MŠMT, MV, GA CR and TA CR). Between 2014 and 2018, he served as the Rector of CTU, and from September 26, 2018, he was appointed by the Government of the Czech Republic as the Chairman of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. Throughout his career, Petr Konvalinka has focused on research primarily in the areas of experimental and numerical mechanics, analysis of material and structural properties of building materials, structural destruction, as well as static and dynamic load testing of bridges and engineering structures.
