doc. Mgr. Jiří Pittner, Dr. rer. nat., DSc.

Jiri Pittner graduated in physical chemistry at the Faculty of Science of Charles University. He received a PhD in physical chemistry from the Humboldt University Berlin in 1996. Since 1997, he has been working at the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences. In 2013, he was awarded the Doctor of Science (DSc.) title, and in 2015, he habilitated at the Faculty of Science of Charles University. In 2024, he became a Professor of Physical Chemistry at Charles University. He has supervised several students (8 successful PhD absolvents and presently having 3 PhD students). In 2021, he became a member of the Committee for the Research Professor Degree of the CZECH Academy of Sciences.

Pittner's research group aims to develop, computerize, and apply theoretical chemistry methods, in particular methods for studying the electronic structure of strongly correlated molecular systems and methods of non-adiabatic molecular dynamics. J. Pittner published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, which have been >3000× cited (self-free), and his h-index achieved a value of 36.
