Prof. RNDr. Jiří Horáček, DrSc.
J. Horáček graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University Prague, in the year 1968, and has been employed there since 1969. He obtained the title DrSc. in the year 1991 and was appointed professor in 1997. In the years 2003–2011 he worked as director of the Institute of Theoretical Physics Charles University. He studied at the Osaka University of Foreign Studies and Tohoku University Sendai, Japan (1979–1981). He was appointed as visiting professor at the Technical University Munich Germany and University of Southern California Los Angeles. He gave talks at several scientific organizations over the world: Harvard University USA, Adelaide University, Australia, University of Lyon, Sabatier University of Toulouse, France, Tennessee University Knoxville, etc. He published over 100 scientific papers and is a coauthor of two monographs: "Theory of Resonances", Kluwer-Dordrecht-Academia Praha (1988) and „Low-energy electron scattering from molecules, biomolecules and surfaces“, CRC Press (Taylor&Francis Group), (2012). Since 2005 he has been member of the Committee for the Research Professor Degree of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He works in the area between mathematical and theoretical physics. Presently his research is dedicated to the study of resonance collisions of electrons with molecules.
