IAP Call for Nomination of Experts for Biosecurity and Urban Health Working Groups
24. 10. 2024
The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) has published a call for the nomination of experts for the IAP Biosecurity Working Group (BWG) and the IAP Urban Health Working Group (UHWB). This is a call for nominations of experts for the next term of office in these groups. Both existing members and new experts can apply. More information on each call can be found below:
- IAP Biosecurity Working Group (BWG)
BWG has been active since 2003, has three main objectives:
1) To promote responsible/ethical research practices in the biosciences and related fields, especially among young/early-career researchers; 2) To engage with international organizations, conventions, etc, and to provide expert recommendations. 3) To engage more IAP member academies in the work of the BWG, especially considering objectives 1 and 2, above.
Over the years, IAP has also developed close relations with the BWC (Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention), and more recently the World Health Organization. This engagement is likely to continue, and perhaps even expand to engage with other international or regional organisations active in biosecurity and related areas. For more information on IAP’s biosecurity activities, please see: https://www.interacademies.org/project/iap-biosecurity-worki Huth Radan - externi <reditel@ufa.cas.cz>ng-group
IAP welcomes the nomination of suitable BWG experts – including but not limited to those with expertise in biotechnology, epidemiology, infectious disease, microbiology, virology, vaccines, responsible research practices and/or knowledge of relevant UN organisations and conventions.
- IAP Urban Health Working Group (UHWB)
UHWB was established in 2018.
1) Provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas in the broad area of urban health, 2) Considers how academies, regional networks and IAP itself can contribute to ongoing urban health discussions, including UN Habitat; 3) Supports the implementation of IAP projects, when requested, by providing specialist advice and/or peer review;

IAP welcomes the nomination of suitable UHWB experts – including but not limited to those with expertise in urban health itself, but perhaps from the perspective of urban planning or transport, etc, also climate change and health, air pollution, healthy ageing, as well as other relevant fields, and/or knowledge of relevant UN organisations and conventions.
The internal deadline for both calls is November 23, 2024. Please send a letter of recommendation from the Director of your Institute together with a brief CV (up to 200 words including the candidate's areas of expertise - key words) in English (word format) to samalova@kav.cas.cz.
