Call for Applications – Research and teaching stay at the EHESS in Paris in 2025

Call for applications: one month visiting professor at École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris
As part of the cooperation agreement between EHESS, CEFRES, Charles University in Prague and the Czech Academy of Sciences and the partnership between EHESS and CEFRES, concluded with the aim of intensifying Franco-Czech scientific exchanges in the field of humanities and social sciences, EHESS proposes the hosting of a teacher/researcher from a Czech academic institution for one month between February and June, or between October and December 2025, thanks to the support of the French Embassy in the Czech Republic.
Duration: One month
Period: February-June, October-December 2025
Applications are to be sent no later than: November 30, 2024
Conditions
- The call is open to all teachers/researchers in humanities and social sciences at the Czech Academy of Sciences, Charles University or any other Czech university.
- The guest researcher will be fully integrated into EHESS. He or she will be expected to give two presentations in seminars or other scientific events at EHESS.
- The guest researcher will contact a researcher from EHESS to decide in which regular EHESS seminars he or she will deliver the two contributions. To obtain contacts at EHESS, please turn to the coordinators of the program hereafter mentioned.
- The presentations should be in English and/or French; it is preferable that at least one of them be in French.
- The missionary will receive an allowance of 2055 euros to cover travel and accommodation costs. Campus France will provide assistance in finding accommodation at preferential rates (usually not more than 1/3 of the awarded fellowship).
Application file
The application file will include the following elements:
- a CV and a list of publications of the candidate;
- proposals for two lectures during the stay;
- a letter of invitation by a member of EHESS mentionning in which of the EHESS’s seminars the applicant will present his or her two contributions
- any other element supporting the application (e.g. a research project requiring consultation of archives or other materials on site).

All applications must be sent electronically (in a single PDF file) before November 30, 2024 to the director of CEFRES (mateusz.chmurski@cefres.cz ) and the program coordinator at EHESS: Falk Bretschneider falk.bretschneider@ehess.fr.
Applications will be examined by the Committee of Coordinators of the EHESS-CEFRES Platform cooperation, representing all the partners involved: EHESS, CEFRES, Czech Academy of Sciences and Charles University.

The Czech Academy of Sciences (the CAS)
The mission of the CAS
The primary mission of the CAS is to conduct research in a broad spectrum of natural, technical and social sciences as well as humanities. This research aims to advance progress of scientific knowledge at the international level, considering, however, the specific needs of the Czech society and the national culture.
President of the CAS
Prof. Eva Zažímalová has started her second term of office in May 2021. She is a respected scientist, and a Professor of Plant Anatomy and Physiology.
She is also a part of GCSA of the EU.
