In view of the upcoming call for proposals in 2024 within the MIT-Czech Republic IOCB Tech Foundation Seed Fund, an online information session was held on 31 July 2024 for those interested in collaborating with MIT and receiving support from the Fund.

The preliminary period for submitting joint project propsals under this collaboration is 10 September to 10 December 2024. All information incl. the call will be posted on the MIT website after 1 August 2024. The call will be open to all scientific disciplines.
The program that was created in 2021 is a collaboration between MIT, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS, and its subsidiary IOCB Tech. It is now funded by the IOCB Tech Foundation, which contributes $100,000 per year to the program. The fund supports 3 to 5 new collaborations each year between scientists from CAS research institutes and universities in the Czech Republic and MIT partners, up to $25,000, with funding available to cover travel and accommodation costs associated with working meetings and research internships. Successful applicants will be decided by April of the following year and the first trips will be available in June 2025.

The Czech Academy of Sciences (the CAS)
The mission of the CAS
The primary mission of the CAS is to conduct research in a broad spectrum of natural, technical and social sciences as well as humanities. This research aims to advance progress of scientific knowledge at the international level, considering, however, the specific needs of the Czech society and the national culture.
President of the CAS
Prof. Eva Zažímalová has started her second term of office in May 2021. She is a respected scientist, and a Professor of Plant Anatomy and Physiology.
She is also a part of GCSA of the EU.
