Evaluations of CAS Institutes
The Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) is currently preparing another round of its periodic evaluation, which will take place during 2025. We aim to acquire detailed and independent information about our institutes and their research teams in collaboration with highly renowned experts and set it in the international context.
52 research institutes and over 400 of their research teams will be evaluated, covering scientific fields from Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Physics, Earth Sciences, Life and Chemical Sciences to Humanities and Social Sciences.
The international evaluation of CAS institutes is conducted as a qualitative informed peer-review that takes into account both the selected outputs and the activities of each institute and its teams. The evaluation will be newly carried out by 52 international commissions; each institute will have one commission established for both phases of the evaluation. Outcomes and recommendations for each evaluated institute and team will be summarised by the commissions in the form of final reports. These will form the basis for effective decision-making and management of the CAS and its institutes in the next 5 years.
Specific evaluation methodology will be applied to the research-infrastructure focused institutes – namely Centre of Administrations and Operations of the CAS and Library of the CAS.
The evaluation is supervised by the Coordination Board.
